Many homes in dense cities like San Francisco share walls with neighboring structures. This results in a lack of opportunity for daylight or views. To solve this in our house I built an augmented window that displays a 4k livestream of the same view that would otherwise be visible if a real window were in place and at night goes into an “art mode” displaying 4k portrait mode content from our travels, AI art, and code animations.
The height and trim match the existing windows exactly, so the install blends into the existing styling of the home. I did the custom build and install as well. Some process shots below.
